19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
