Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
