The Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their initial championship series following 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 win in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not anyone else in the world that I'd prefer in that situation except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he remarked.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on this Friday.
