The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Featured Artists
The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of talented individuals. The track features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a representative said. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from later in the month.
